Sharif Alizai is an Afghan youth activist[1][2] who is known for his social and development efforts. He serves as Director General for Planning, Policy, Monitoring and Evaluation at Ministry of Energy and Water in Afghanistan. He founded the Kandahar Hub of the Global Shapers Community of the World Economic Forum, a network of youth driving action, dialogue and change [3] and is co-founder of the People's Peace Movement, a nonviolent march for peace that is unprecedented in the recent Afghan history[4]. He worked at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), delivering the UK-funded development programs across Afghanistan, with particular focus on Helmand, including the reconstruction of the central mosque in Musa Qala district in 2008 and compensating to civilians affected by the collateral damages of war.

After helping a number of Helmand students with tuition and dormitory to enter universities of higher education universities and institutes and reaching out to families who were injured and displaced by war that raged in northern in Helmand throughout his Dawar Charity Foundation, Sharif was assigned to serve as Afghan government's representative at UN's Cluster on Emergency Shelter and Non-Food Items[5].
