Shanthuru Premkumar is a DEI officer at Greenpeace Belgium and Greenpeace International. They are a Human rights activist|human rights and climate activist, journalist, entrepreneur, photographer, consultant, trainer and facilitator based in Brussels, Belgium. Shanthuru has experience with working with Social business|social businesses, is specialised in communication, they are co-founder of Nonprofit organization|non-profit organisations and Grassroots|grassroot movements.[1][2][3][4]

Biography

Shanthuru was born in Germany to activists from Sri Lanka. In 1996 their mother passed away and their father was imprisoned in Sri Lanka. After these incidents Shanthuru moved to India for ten years. In South India they supported with organizing the first LGBT rights in India|rainbow march. In 2013 they moved to Belgium. In Belgium they worked as facilitator, trainer and supported with organizing and co-founding several movements. They study philosophy at the Catholic University of Leuven.[1]

Greenpeace Belgium and International

Shanthuru works as a DEI officer for both Greenpeace Belgium and Greenpeace International. The function within Greenpeace Belgium is called JEDIS officer, this stands for Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Safety officer. For Greenpeace International their function is a Global Equity Diversity and Inclusion Engagement Coordinator.[5]

Stand-up Comedy

Shanthuru has done stand-up shows in NTGent, the national theater of Ghent. The name of this stand-up is Peace Guru Love Prince. In this stand-up they talk about Europe and they reflect about the many obstacles that someone without legal papers face. They talk about the beauty of both their hopes and their dreams.[6]
