Shantanu Prakash (an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad) is the MD of Educomp Solutions Limited[1]. Shantanu is also a founder of the Learning Leadership Foundation (LLF), an organization dedicated to bringing best practices in education to under-resourced schools as well as the founder of the Millennium Schools, a group of over 30 schools across India with over 35,000 students.

Early Life and Education

Shantanu Prakash was born in Rourkela, Orissa on 26th January 1965. He did his schooling at St Pauls School Rourkela till 10th grade and Delhi Public School, Mathura Road till 12th grade. He received the B.Com (Hons.) degree from the Shri Ram College of Commerce, followed by an MBA from IIM Ahmedabad in India. He has also been a National Talent Search scholar.

Career

Shantanu Prakash founded Educomp in 1994[2] by setting up computer labs in schools just a few years after acquiring an MBA degree from the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad. His vision has always been to transform the teaching-learning process through the use of technology and best practices. In 2003 Educomp launched an e-learning platform called SmartClass which created the Digital Classroom Revolution in India. He later on founded the Learning Leadership Foundation (LLF) in 2007.[3] LLF is actively running in various schools. In the past Shantanu has been involved in several test-prep, preschool and publishing initiatives.

Awards and Recognition

Shantanu has been awarded with The DataQuest Path Breaker Award 2010, Dare Magazine Entrepreneur of the Year 2010 -Jury’s Choice, The ET Now Leap of Faith award for Education in 2011[4], ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at Indian Education Awards 2011, the National Awards on Excellence in Education as well as the Wisitex Foundation Educationist of the Decade Award 2011.

Shantanu’s journey has been chronicled in page 18 of a book titled ‘Stay Hungry Stay Foolish’ by Rashmi Bansal published in May 2008[5] which has been a best seller ever since.[6]

He was on the Global Futures Council of the World Economic Forum.
