Shamsher Singh is a Senior Indian Journalist. He has worked with several News Networks including Aaj Tak, India TV and Zee Media. He was awarded the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards for Excellence in Journalism in 2010 in Indian Journalism.

Currently, he is working as Editor in Republic Bharat TV.

Early Life

Shamsher Singh was born on 7 October 1966 in a village called Sukhasan Kothi of Purnia district in Bihar, India. His father Late Surendra Narayan Singh has served in the Indian Army. and was a highly decorated officer, who fought wars of Sino-Indian War, Indo-Pakistani War of 1965 & 1971 war, and got many medals & awards.

Shamsher Singh got his early education from a Village School, completed High School in the year 1982 from Saharsa, Bihar. He obtained his bachelor's degree from Patna College a part of Patna University in Patna. He shifted to Delhi for the preparation of Civil Services Examination (India).

Career

Shamsher Singh started his career with The Asian Age as Trainee. Soon he shifted to Electronic media. He joined Nalini Singh Associates. In March 1998 He joined Aaj Tak as a Reporter[1]. In 2000, Shamsher Singh was transferred to Odisha as Bureau chief. Later he was promoted to Bureau chief including Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh. Being a hardcore television journalist, Shamsher has covered most of the important News of India and abroad.

He came back to Delhi in 2009 as Deputy editor, Aaj Tak. As Deputy Editor, he was involved in Political journalism. In 2015, he attended the BRICS Media Forum[2] in Moscow, Russia In November 2013, he moved to India TV as Editor[3][4], Current affairs. In April 2017 he joined as National Affairs , Zee Hindustan[5], and launched the channel.

In November 2018 he became a part of the Republic Bharat TV[6] as Editor of Republic Bharat TV which was launched in Feb 2019. He hosted a show Jai Hind Zee Hindustan.

Awards

Shamsher Singh received the Ramnath Goenka Excellence in Journalism Awards[7][8]from President Pratibha Patil.
