Shadi Karamroudi

Sahdi Karamroudi is an Iranian Actress and filmmaker. She is mostly known for her role in the feature film Without Her (2022 film)[1], which earned her a nomination for best supporting actress in 40th Fajr Film Festival[2]. Her other works as an actress include Iranian film and theater productions. She has also directed a couple of short films, the latter of which is called It Turns Blue and it will have its world premiere at the South by Southwest[3] in 2023.

Feature films as actress

She played in the feature film Without Her (2022 film), which was released in 2022 at Venice Film Festival in Orizzonti Extra section[4]. She has also acted in several Iranian feature films such as Fish & Cat[5] which won the Orizzonti Award at Venice Film Festival in 2013[6] and also played the leading role of the film A Very Ordinary Citizen by Majid Barzegar back in 2015.[7]

Short films as actress

She has played the leading role of the short film Like A Good Kid directed by Arian Vazirdaftari, which was selected to compete at Cannes Film Festival Cinéfondation section in 2018.[8] Her other short film as an actress is called Spotted Yellow and was officially selected at Locarno Festival[9] in 2020.

Theatre works

Her theatre works include, performing in the theatre production Voicelessness by director Azadeh Shahmiri. The production was performed in many acclaimed international theatre festivals such as Wiener Festwochen[10] and Edinburgh International Festival [11].

Works as writer and director

Her short film All The Time was released in Busan International Film Festival|Busan Film Festival in 2020. Karamroudi has also played the leading role of the film, a young girl named Toranj who is entangled in a limbo when she finds out about her sister`s secret.[12]

She continued her career as a filmmaker with her next film called It Turns Blue which deals with a story about domestic violence in Iran.[13]
