Sezer Ateş Ayvaz (d. 1956, Antakya), Turkish writer, sociologist. She was born in Antakya town of Hatay province in 1956. She studied sociology at Istanbul University.[1] She later received Master of Arts (1998) and Doctor of Philosophy (2003) degrees in International Relations from Istanbul University with a PhD thesis "A Shifting Paradigm in Turkish Novel: Political Novel". She ran a short story workshop titled "A Language, Story of Fiction" with the support of PEN International.[2] She participated in selection committees of 2014 Selçuk Baran Story Award, 2016 Türkân Saylan Art and Science Awards and 2017 Yunus Nadi Award.[3][4][5] She was awarded Yunus Nadi Story Award in 2005 with her book Tamiris’in Gece Suçları (Nocturnal Crimes of Tamiris). She has a child by her marriage with a renowned story writer Ülkü Ayvaz.

She works as an academic in Political Science and International Relations department at İstanbul Gelişim Üniversitesi.[6]
