Sergey Yuryevich Alekseyev (born June 2, 1952) is an russian architect, professor of Southern Federal University, advisor to the Russian Academy of Architecture and Construction Sciences (RAASN).

Biography

Sergey Yuryevich Alekseyev was born on June 2, 1952, in Rostov-on-Don, Rostov Oblast, USSR. He grew up in the historic area of the 18 houses of the city council of Rostov-on-Don. Alekseyev studied at school 52 and began his professional career in 1969 as a draughtsman-designer, senior technician-architect, and architect at Rostov Industrial Project Institute.

In 1982, Alekseyev graduated from Rostov Engineering and Construction Institute with a degree in architecture.[1]. After graduation, he joined the Department of Urban Development at the Rostov Engineering and Construction Institute as an assistant. He worked under the supervision of Rebain Y. A. until Rebain's death in 1986. Alekseyev's thesis focused on parametric architecture[2]

Alekseyev was appointed Associate Professor in 1996. From 1997 to 2002, he served as the Deputy Chief Architect of Rostov-on-Don for Design and Perspective Development and Chief Artist of the city from 1999 to 2002. Throughout this time, he continued teaching at Rostov Architectural Institute. From 2002 to 2016, Alekseyev held the position of Professor in the Department of Architectural Environment Design at the Academy of Architecture and Arts, Southern Federal University. Since 2016, he has been a Professor in the Department of History of Architecture and Architectural Restoration at the AAI, Southern Federal University. In 2020-2021, he served as the Chairman of the Board of the Union of Architects of Russia.
