Sebastian Haunss is a German Political Scientist. Haunss is professor for theoretical and normative basics of Political Science (Theoretische und normative Grundlagen) at University of Bremen.
Haunss is head of the "Social Conflicts" lab of SOCIUM - Research Center for Inequality and Social Policy at the University of Bremen and founding member of the Institute for Research on Protest- and Social Movements. Beside of his research on social movements and protests, his research focuses on network analysis, computational social sciences and global health and social policy.[1]
Education and Work
Sebastian Haunss Studied Political and Social Science. Sebastian Haunss was visiting Research Fellow and Lecturer at the Departments of Sociology of Manchester Metropolitan University (UK), San Diego State University (USA) and University of Essen-Duisburg (Germany). In 2003 he became Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Collaborative Research Center 597 »Transformations of the State« at University of Bremen and in 2014 Head of the research group "Social Conflicts". SOCIUM - Research Center on Inequality and Social Policy of University of Bremen, Germany.[2][3]
Hi is head of the MARDY - Modeling ARgumentation DYnamics in Political Discourse project within the DFG Robust Argumentation Machines (RATIO) program. MARDY is bringing together expertise from Political Science, Computational Linguistics and Machine Learning, to develop a framework for data-driven modeling of key aspects of argumentation dynamics in policy debates as they unfold over a period of days or weeks.[4]
