Sean Webley is an American cinematographer and filmmaker.[1]

Early life and education

Webley received a Master of Fine Arts degree in Film from Columbia University School of the Arts.[2]

Career

Feature films

Webley was cinematographer for the feature film Before the Sun Explodes (2016), directed by Debra Eisenstadt.[1] The film premiered at the South by Southwest Film Festival in 2016.[1]

Webley was the director of photography for La Restauración (2020), directed by Alonso Llosa.[2] The film was screened at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival.[2]

Documentary and experimental work

Webley co-directed the short film Beef (2022) with Brendon Kingsbury.[3] The film received the Spirit Award at the Brooklyn Film Festival in 2022.[3] It also received Best Experimental Film at the Nashville Film Festival.[4]

Webley was cinematographer for the documentary The Voyage Out (2025).[5] The film premiered at DOC NYC.[5]

He was also cinematographer for Seconds Away (2025).[6]

Installations and research

Webley is listed as a contributor on the MIT Media Lab project Two Mobility Futures 0∞.[7] The project was included in the exhibition Motion. Autos, Art, Architecture at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao in 2022.[8]
