Scott Hiett is a British entrepreneur[1] and computer programmer. He is the founder of MusicPals, Edge, SimSync and Subso.
Work
Hiett, who has been described as "The next generation of computer science" by Forbes,[2] bought himself a 'Teach Yourself Visual Basic' book with a voucher he received as a gift for his seventh birthday[2]. Hiett read this book "backwards, forwards, upside down, left to right"[2] and fuelled his passion for programming. Scott continued to read books, watch videos on YouTube and make small projects for many years until he was fluent in many programming languages[2].
When Hiett was slightly older he wanted more challenging projects, this was when he started developing Minecraft mods.[3] His love for developing Video Games continued and turned into a more serious hobby when Hiett released SimSync in November 2018[4]. Sim Sync is a popular Sims 4 multiplayer mod that Scott co-owned with over 175,000 downloads.
Hiett also worked on Marling School's Matador Gaming Esports team[2]. Scott built the website and the overlay system as well as leading a full student team with over 350 members involved[2]. During this time Hiett started commentating over the live tournaments and practiced shoutcasting. Hiett also managed the whole production team of the Marling Matador's which ranged from sound crew and video production to graphic designers.
Hiett started working for Edge in July 2019 and started as an Intern Developer[4]. Within 3 months, Hiett got promoted to Platform Engineer where he only stayed for 5 month[4]s as he was once again promoted to Senior Platform Engineer[4]. As a Senior Platform Engineer, Hiett was mainly focusing on full stack web development and Java backend systems. Hiett's love for gaming and dedication towards Edge landed him a dream promotion in April 2020 where he was promoted to Co-Founder / Head of Engineering[4].
In December 2020 Hiett started MusicPals- a website that matches people together in a chat room based on there music taste[5]. Hiett released a video on TikTok on the 26th of December showcasing his new idea and website. The video was extremely successful and currently has over 2.7 million views, 650,000 likes and 13,800 comments[6]. MusicPals was officially registered as a limited company in the United Kingdom on 19 January 2021. Hiett is currently developing MusicPals for artists that is designed to connect music artists and there fans in a way never seen before[7].
Hiett's latest project is an app named Sub.so. Hiett is developing Sub.so with co-worker Robert Westbury. Sub.so aims to create an all in one subscription box app that provides one feed for all creators. Hiett hasn't officially launched Sub.so yet and has only hinted details on his social media.
Honours
In April 2019 Hiett was awarded with the National Best Shoutcaster (commentator in eSports) award for the Digital Schoolhouse Overwatch tournament[2].
In May 2019 Hiett and his team won the Finastra’s FusionONE Hackathon[8]. Hiett and his team came up with HYBER- a money saving holiday app that uses AI. The team’s app was built using open APIs on FusionFabric.cloud, powered by Microsoft Azure, Hiett specifically worked on the AI backend and some of the frontend development[9]. HYBER was also awarded Most Creative App at the Finastra’s FusionONE Hackathon[9]
Hiett is also currently Head Boy at Marling School[10].
