Scott Doggett is an American author and organizational development leader known for his work in workplace learning and leadership development. He is the founder of National Learning and Development Month, an annual U.S. observance dedicated to lifelong learning and professional growth each October. Doggett is also the author of Priceless! See People Differently. Lead People Better (2025), a leadership book focused on workplace culture and employee development.[1][2]

Early life and education

Doggett was born in Exeter, New Hampshire, and grew up in New England. He graduated from Berwick Academy in South Berwick, Maine, and later earned a Bachelor of Science in hospitality management from Johnson & Wales University and an MBA from the University of the People.[3]

Career

Hospitality and corporate learning

Doggett worked more than two decades in hospitality operations and talent development, including leadership roles at Marriott Vacation Club, Hyatt Regency, and Wyndham Vacation Ownership.[4]

From 2008 to 2023, Doggett was a training and organizational development executive at Holiday Inn Club Vacations, leading enterprise learning strategies for thousands of employees.[5]

World Vision USA

In 2024–2025, Doggett served as Director of Christian Leadership Development at World Vision USA, contributing to leadership and workplace culture initiatives.[6]

National Academy of Leadership Development

Doggett later founded the National Academy of Leadership Development (NALD), an organization focused on servant leadership and employee experience. The launch coincided with broader discussions about workplace culture in the age of artificial intelligence.[7]

National Learning and Development Month

Doggett established National Learning & Development Month in 2016 to raise awareness about professional learning and development. The observance has been recognized by corporations and universities, including the University of Michigan, and discussed in business publications and online commentary.[8][9]
