Scarlett Lacey is an Emmy-winning executive producer, writer, and consultant in film and television. Currently, she is Executive Producer of Netflix’s Emmy-winning TV series The Empress.[1]

At the start of her career, Scarlett wrote the original story and treatment for Paramount’s Save the Last Dance[2] and developed films such as HBO’s Something the Lord Made, starring Alan Rickman and Mos Def, which won the Emmy for Best Film 2004[3], a Peabody[4], and an NAACP Image Award. In 2008 she executive produced Constantin Film’s A Year Ago in Winter directed by Oscar-winner Caroline Link.[5]

Scarlett was Senior Vice President of Mandalay Pictures[6] from 2007 to 2012 where she executive produced the Salvation Boulevard, starring Pierce Brosnan, Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Greg Kinnear, Marisa Tomei and Jim Gaffigan. The film premiered at Sundance in 2011[7] and was acquired by IFC.[8]

From 2014 to 2018, Scarlett wrote for Lionsgate’s series The Royals[9], starring Elizabeth Hurley which filmed in London, UK. In May 2018, her film Harry & Meghan: A Royal Romance was released;[10] it spawned two sequels Becoming Royal and Escaping the Palace. From 2019 to 2020 Scarlett wrote for and produced CBS/NBC’s MAGNUM P.I. which filmed in Hawaii.[11]

In 2023 she earned her first Emmy, Best Drama at the International Emmys, for The Empress.[1]

Since 2020 Scarlett has worked for Netflix as a Creative Consultant in Europe, England, the Middle East and Africa.
