Sardar Arjan Singh Rangar Nangalia was a vey powerful general in sikh rule. he was grandson of Sardar karam Singh , a close friend of Maharaja , who helped him to seize amritsar and he built katra Karam singh.Arjan singh was born in 1798 . he was a powerful sirdar who remained in power until maharaja ranjit singh and nau nihal singh remained alive . after death of maharajas in 1839 and 1840 respectively , his powers were reduceed by new maharaja sher singh , his mother was maternal aunt of rani cahnd kaur , mother of kunwar nau nihal singh, reason of enimity with maharaja sher singh[1]. in 1840 he was awared a persian tittle for bravery by major lawrence . in 1840, 15 october his residential palace and the Fort in RangarNangal was destroyed by brigadier wheeler and was reduced speedily. arjan singh died in 1850 and was succeded by his son sardar balwant singh rangar nangalia.
