Santanu Puzari is a dedicated worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party. He had served as the Secretary of BJP Assam Pradesh, as President of BJP Jorhat District, as Prabhari of BJP Nagaon District and also as member of BJP State Training Cell. He was the founder President of "Napothyo" a leading Socio-Cultural and Sports organization of the State. He is serving his second term as the President of Jorhat District Sports Association and also he is the Vice President of Assam Football Association for two terms running. Because of his efficiency as a sports organizer, he has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of All India Football Federation, League Competition . In 2021, the Government of Assam had appointed him as the Chairman of Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation, a Government of Assam undertaking. He has been active in youth outreach and organizational activities within the party. He had also took a new role as the Bharatiya Janata Party president of Jorhat district in January 2025.This appointment highlights his growing influence within the party.
Early life and Education
Santanu Puzari is born to an Educationist Couple Late Arun Chandra Puzari, Former Vice President of Itihash Sankalan Samiti, Assam Secreatary Dibrugarh University Area Committee and Garima Puzari, Rtd. Principal of Sishu Vidya Mandir, Jorhat on 1st of January, 1969. He is the eldest among two Siblings. Santanu Puzari is associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh since student life. He started his schooling from Jorhat Govt. Boys' H.S and M.P. School. He was an Asst,General Secreatary and Debating Secretary during his School time. He did his Graduation in History from Jorhat College in 1991. Santanu Puzari completed his Master's in Ancient Indian History from North-Eastern Hill University in 1994. Further, he did his B.Ed from Dibrugarh University in 1995. After completion of Education life, Santanu Puzari joined as a Lecturer in the Dept, of History at Kakojan College in 1994 and in 1996 he joined a leading Newspaper of Assam namely Dainik Janambhumi as a trainee Sub Editor and rose to the rank of Deputy News Editor in his 19 years of professional career. In 2014 after continuous service he joined Bharatiya Janata Party on 18th March, 2014. He was the founder General Secretary of Jorhat Press Club in 2001. In due course, he was married to Mayurakshi Devi Puzari. Associated with Right winged Politics, Santanu Puzari is a dedicated worker of the Bharatiya Janata Party. The Party has seen capabilities in him and as such he was entrusted with different responsibilities in the Party from time to time. He had served as the Secretary of BJP Assam Pradesh in 2014 , as President of BJP Jorhat District in 2016 , as Prabhari of BJP Nagaon District from 2014 to 2016 and also as member of BJP State Training Cell. Apart from Politics, he is a keen sports lover and a sports organizer. He was the founder President of "Napothyo" a leading Socio-Cultural and Sports organization of the State in 1999. He is serving his second term as the President of Jorhat District Sports Association from 2017 till present and also he is the Vice President of Assam Football Association from 2019 till present for two terms running. Because of his efficiency as a sports organizer, he has been appointed as the Vice Chairman of All India Football Federation on 2022, League Competition. He has even wrote a novel "Nixidho Chakra" published by Banalata, Dibrugarh in the year 2007 and was a editor of Jorhat College magazine in 1989, He wrote more than 200 articles in various newspapers and magazines and also published five novels in various Magazines, He also Edited "Disoi", the souvenir of the Annual Conference of Bharatiya Itihash Sankalan Samiti. In 2021, the Government of Assam had appointed him as the Chairman of Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation Aiidc, a Government of Assam undertaking.
Leadership and News Coverage
In May 2025, following the BJP’s strong showing in Panchayat polls, Santanu Puzari led a delegation of the Jorhat BJP urging Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to contest from Jorhat in the upcoming Assembly elections. This reflected his growing influence within the party and was reported in regional media.[1]
As Chairman of the Assam Industrial Infrastructure Development Corporation (AIIDC), he was also present at the inauguration of the new AIIDC building and logo in Guwahati in 2023, covered by independent media.[2]
