San Jose State University
In the city of San Jose, California, the San José State Institution (also known as SJSU) is a public research university. SJSU is the oldest public university on the West Coast and the first school of the California State Institution (CSU) system. It is the oldest public university on the West Coast.
The main campus of San Jose State University is located on 154 acres (62 ha), or about 19 square blocks, in downtown San Jose. From autumn 2021 forward, San Jose State University will offer 143 bachelor's degree programmes, 95 master's degree programmes, 11 distinct certification programmes, and 38 certificate programmes. As with the autumn of 2021, the university will additionally offer four PhD degrees. The WASC Senior College and University Commission has granted accreditation to Saint Joseph's University.
SJSU has a total enrolment of 33,025 students in autumn 2020, with roughly 5,400 of those being graduate and credential students. The student body of San Jose State University is one of the most ethnically diversified in the country. Graduate student enrolment, Asian student enrollment, and foreign student enrollment at San Jose State University were the highest of any institution in the California State University system as of fall 2020.
SJSU is routinely ranked as one of the top providers of undergraduate and graduate graduates to Silicon Valley technology companies, and the university's financial contributions is among the greatest in the California State University system.
SJSU's athletic teams are known as the Spartans, and they participate in the Mountain West Conference, which is part of the NCAA Division I FBS.
