Samuel Onuigbo is a politician from Nigeria who sits in the House of Representatives as the representative for the Ikwuano/Umuahia North and South Federal Constituency.[1] He is a member of the People's Democratic Party(PDP).[2]

Early life and education

Samuel Onuigbo hails from Abia State. He was born on October 1st, 1960, in Umuahia, Abia State [3], Nigeria, into a family from Obuohia, Obi-Ibere, and Ikwuano Local Government Area.[2]

He began his elementary education at Community Primary School, Obuohia Obi-Ibere, Ikwuano[4]. He attended Orboro Commercial Secondary School, where he obtained his General Certificate Examination (GCE) in the year 1979. In 1983, he earned a National Diploma of Education from the Alvan Ikoku Institute of Education in Owerri, Imo State [2]

Additionally, he received a diploma in law from the University of Lagos and a Master's degree in Business Administration from the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, Enugu in the year 2000.[5]

Career

Onuigbo served as Special Adviser, Public Affairs, House of Representatives, National Assembly, Abuja, at the national level. He also served as the Hon. Commissioner for the Ministry of Lands and Survey, the recently departed Commissioner for Finance, and a former member of the International Glass Industries Ltd, Aba, board of directors.[2]

Awards

  • Onuigbo received the Okeosisi of Ikwuano award from the Ikwuano Development Union in 2001[6][3].
  • He has received Rotary Club International's Professional and Vocational Service Awards[3].
  • Also, he has received multiple long service awards from the US Department of State, as well as letters of commendation from two previous American ambassadors to Nigeria.[7]
  • He received an Honorary award from the Nigerian Forum of Finance Commissioners[3].
  • He is known by two traditional titles: Ebubedike I of the Otu Uzo Autonomous Community and Odozi Obodo I of the Ugwu-Ibere Ancient Kingdom.[8][3]
