[5] Marrache was Gemma Arias-Vasquez's Election Agent in the 2023 Gibraltar General Election.[6]

Biography

Marrache was born on 28 February 1998. His family is said to have moved to Gibraltar in the early 1700s.[7]

His parents, Benjamin and Anjette Marrache, had six children, of which he is the eldest. In 2010 his father was arrested and in 2014 imprisoned for 11 years for false accounting. [8] Samuel spent several years raising his younger siblings alone and completing his secondary education.

He stood out when he obtained the top grade in Bayside Comprehensive School, at A-level in 2016 and became a Gibraltar Scholar.[9] He went on to study law and at University College London where he graduated with first class honours and a range of awards from the university.[10] Marrache completed the bar studies at the University of London in London and was admitted to the bar in London in November 2021 and to the Gibraltar bar in November 2022.[11]

Marrache has been involved in the politics of Gibraltar since his student days. He became a GSLP Youth committee member around 2011. He also formed part of the Gibraltar Stronger In Europe Campaign. In October 2018, Marrache founded and chaired the GSLP Students section.[2] Marrache then became the Chairman of the GSLP Youth Section, which he still chairs today. [12]

Marrache has been recognised in two successive Gibraltar General Elections for playing a leading role in the successful GSLP Liberal Alliance's campaign for re-election. In 2019, he was named by the Chief Minister Fabian Picardo in his victory speech on the night of the Gibraltar General Election 2019 as forming part of the "core team" that led the campaign. In 2023, he was praised by Mr Picardo and singled out by local media for having led the GSLP's digital campaign.[5]

He is also the founder and President of the Gibraltar Tuna Fishing Club[13][14] [15]
