Sam Levy is an American cinematographer, photographer and film producer. He began his career as a camera assistant on The Yards as well as commercials and music videos. Savides later introduced Sam to Noah Baumbach, who hired him to be the cinematographer for his film Frances Ha.

Sam went on to be the cinematographer of Lady Bird.

In addition to Frances Ha, Sam photographed Mistress America and While We’re Young, Frank Ocean's Blonded Tour, Sermon on The Mount, Maggie’s Plan and Green Porno.

Sam earned a nomination for best cinematography from the London Film Critics’ Circle for his work on Frances Ha. [1] He was also included for Favorite Cinematography in Filmmaker Magazine’s the Year in Review in 2008 [2] and one of Indiewire’s 15 Cinematographers to Watch. [3]

Other films as cinematographer include His Three Daughters , Rothaniel, Confess, Fletch and She Came to She Came To Me. Sam recently completed principal photography on Little Films, an HBO limited series written, directed and starring Julio Torres.
