Salwa Kalan is a small village of 3162 hectares in Jodhpur Tehsil in Jodhpur district, also known as the Blue City in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Salwa Kalan depends on Jodhpur, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Salwa Kalan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Handpump. Salwa Kalan's pin code is 342027[4], and village code is 01959400. The area of Salwa Kalan is segregated as 2727 hectares unirrigated, the 358 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 77.45 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Jodhpur to sell ghee and make their living.
