Salt Edge is is a financial technology company that provides open banking solutions, enabling third parties to access bank channels and helping banks meet regulatory requirements.[1] Founded in 2013, the company is headquartered in Toronto, Canada, and has offices in the UK and Moldova. Salt Edge offers a comprehensive suite of open banking APIs, connecting to over 5,000 banks globally, and provides a one-stop-shop for banks to comply with PSD2, Open Banking, and CDR requirements.[2][3]

History

Headquartered in Toronto, Salt Edge was founded in 2013[4][3] with the aim to create stable and secure interoperability channels between financial providers and end-consumers, bringing benefits to all the involved parties. Salt Edge Inc. is present globally in 70 countries and 3732 banks.[5][6] The number of the company employees is 200 of employees. On March 25, 2019, Salt Edge was registered by the UK's FCA as an Account Information Service Provider under the revised Payment Service Directive. The company is ISO 27001 certified and complies with PCI Security Standard. Its clientele includes notable companies such as MoneyWiz, Societe Generale (Expressbank, BRD), and BudgetBakers.

In 2017, the company has registered over 50,000 million of active users. For 2017, the company revenue was $500k.

In 2018, the Salt Edge Inc. was among the finalists of the Pitch360 for the provided banking/enterprise solutions.[7][8]

In 2018, Israeli investment start-up Vyzer has partnered open banking fintech Salt Edge to allow investors to connect and sync up their European bank accounts with the platform.[9]

On October 24, 2019 the Salt Edge Inc Company has signed an agreement with the Exprivia group. According to the agreement, the crediting institutions have been provided with the new tools that are in compliance with the European Directive PSD2 of Spetember 14th, 2019. The Exprivia Group's offers can be integrated into the financial sector with the SaltEdge products.[10][11][12][13][14]

Digital finance platform Globitex has partnered with Salt Edge, a financial API platform with PSD2 and Open Banking solutions, to ensure that its EURO Wallet customers benefit from a secure environment for payments.[15]

Hong Kong-based Shanghai Commercial Bank has partnered Salt Edge to ensure PSD2 compliance for its online banking services as the firm looks to utilise open banking to provide a more personalised experience for customers.[16]

In 2023, Endava, a global provider of digital transformation and intelligent automation services, has partnered with Salt Edge to share the full potential of open banking solutions.[17]

Salt Edge and SeaPay forge partnership, boosting open banking for Saudi Arabian businesses.[18]

Salt Edge Inc is expertized in FinTech and APIs. Salt Edge service range covers all the layers of work between a financial institution and end customer:

  • Compliance OBC - a PSD2 and Open Banking Solution which includes AISP/PISP APIs for banks, added-value APIs such as Digital Identification and workshops on banking strategy building in post PSD2 digital world.
  • Gateway OBG - unified API layer for Data Aggregation and Enrichment, with a coverage of 3500+ financial institutions in 50+ countries.
  • Fentury - White Label Banking Solution, which includes retail, kids, wealth management and business banking solutions, end-customer analytics and marketing platform for personalized offers.[19] Fentury started as a personal finance advisor in late 2015, being available in 50 countries and supporting 2500 financial institutions. Partnering with banks, allowed the app to cover wider audience and bring mutual benefit for the end-customer, bank and the company. Currently Fentury is a part of Salt Edge Inc. — the Fintech Service provider, which includes Financial Data Aggregation API, PSD2 Technical Solution and White Label Banking services.
