Lindsay Olsen, known professionally as Salami Rose Joe Louis, is an American musician, composer, producer, and multi-instrumentalist based in Philadelphia . She is currently signed to the independent record label Brainfeeder, founded by Flying Lotus, and was part of the Oakland-based Smart Bomb multimedia art collective[1][2][3].

Early life and education

Olsen grew up in the San Diego Metropolitan Area[4]. She attended the University of California, Santa Cruz, where she studied earth and planetary science, with a focus in ocean chemistry[5]. Prior to pursuing music full-time, she was a researcher in an oceanography lab in the San Francisco Bay Area[4].

Career

Olsen began self-releasing music in the mid-2010s . During her time in the Bay Area she became a member of the Oakland-based multimedia art and music collective Smart Bomb, founded by Jason Ragonton[1]. Through this collective, she began collaborating with Arlington Lowell and the independent record label Hot Records Societe[6][7]. Early albums such as Son of a Sauce! (2016) and Zlaty Sauce Nephew (2017) were released under Lowell's label[7].

In 2019, Olsen signed to Brainfeeder, releasing her label debut, Zdenka 2080 (2019), the same year[2][8]. This was followed by two more albums with the Brainfeeder label, Chapters of Zdenka and Akousmatikous in 2020 and 2023, respectively[8][9].

Olsen has toured as a supporting act for artists including Flying Lotus, Toro y Moi, Tune-Yards, and Clairo[10]. In 2022, Olsen was a featured vocalist on Toro y Moi's album Mahal[11].

In April 2024, Olsen and Flanafi self-released a collaborative album titled Sarah (2024) [12]. In 2025, Olsen released Lorings (2025), which Emma Madden of Pitchfork describes as a "sensory playground"[13].

Musical style and influences

Olsen produces much of her music using a Roland MV-880 sequencer . Her music has been described as a blend of hypnagogic pop, jazz, and bedroom pop. She cites influences including Stereolab, Shuggie Otis, and R. Stevie Moore. [ninjatune ref]
