Sakiko Murakami (born 22nd February in 1997) ia an Australian rules football player from Japan. Sakiko, known as Sakko, is a player and also management of the Japanese AFLW Team, Mirais.[1] She is recognised as one of the Japanese players to learn and play the game outside of Australia. Early life
Murakami was originally from rugby. Murakami found AFL and took quickly to Australian Football and began playing amongst Men's team, R246lions[2] with Michito Sakaki and other players.
Australian rules football
Murakami represents the Mirais, the Japanese women national Australian rules football team. In 2021, She debuted with R246lions amongst men and played against Osaka Dingoes.[3] R246 lions won the game, scored 121-61 against Dingoes and she won the Best on Ground of the game and kicked 3 goals. From 2022, she became a manager of Mirais team and built relationship with social rescue dog company, Buddies.She was also named as one of the commisionors of Kumamoto Japan Australia Society.[4] She was in charge of sports section and introduced AFL and AFLW to locals.[5]
