Sailen Dasgupta (1920 – July 10, 2021) was an Indian political figure and a prominent leader associated with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPI(M)) and the Left Front in West Bengal. [1] Born in Barisal, Bengal, Dasgupta initially engaged with the Anushilan Samiti before embracing Marxist ideology and dedicating himself to the Communist cause.
He began his political career as a full-time worker for the CPI(M), augmenting his income through various jobs while emphasizing self-education in Marxist theory and organizational principles. Following the CPI(M)'s split in 1964, Dasgupta ascended within the party's hierarchy.
