Sahar Rasti is an Emirati female ship captain, best known for being the first woman to work in that role in the United Arab Emirates.[1][2][3][4][5]. Capt. Sahar Rasti has certified with Master ≤ 24M from The Australian Maritime College is an institute of the University of Tasmania as well she is certified with IALA Aids to Navigation level-1 for management & level-2 for technician which accredited by FTA & IALA, which made her the first Emirati woman to be working in the field of marine services in Abu Dhabi Ports.[6][7][8][9][10][11]

Career

Upon her entrance into the maritime industry in 2015, Rasti joined Abu Dhabi Ports as an administrative assistant before quickly climbing the ranks to become a Navigation Services Coordinator. In this role, Rasti made great contributions towards optimizing the company’s best practices and bolstering its quality of international standards. Furthermore, she became the first Emirati woman to work in the field of marine services.

Currently, Rasti is the Chief Executive Officer of SJR General Group (SJR), her own self-founded business. The company’s primary focus is import oriented, as it supplies quality manufactured accessories with a vision of continually enhancing the marine industry. Additionally, SJR also manages a multitude of subsidiaries conducting work related to creating smart home designs, goods and services exporting, and stable management and horse training.

Initiatives

In 2020, Rasti launched the “Your Interaction Safely” initiative to facilitate the work of educational institutions and the business sector.[12][13][14]

The ‘Interact Safely’ initiative aims to create a flexible work environment and ensure the highest levels of productivity by implementing the best technologies that facilitate doing business safely and efficiently.

The system has many advantages, the most important of which is the possibility of creating a virtual work environment where the lecturer or the employer interacts and asks questions through live video or text chatting. The solution also enables sharing presentations for classes or business projects, in addition to other features to follow up on work progress.
