Sofolahan Josiah Sawyerr Esq., of Saro origin was born in 1877.

He lived in Cocoanut House of Ereko area, then The Town of Lagos or Lagos Colony now Lagos Island.

He was a member of the Roman Catholic Community, having attended masses during his lifetime at the "Church of the Holy Cross" as it was then known, now Cathedral of the Holy Cross, Lagos.
