Ryan Mekenian is an American theatre and film director and songwriter.

Theater

In 2007, Mekenian directed With Glee at the Skirball Center for the Performing Arts..[1] His production was later revived Off-Broadway at the Davenport Theatre as part of the New York Musical Theatre Festival[2].

That same year, he directed Mrs. Sharp at the Pittsburgh Civic Light Opera & Carnegie Mellon University as part of the ASCAP Foundation/Disney Musical Theatre Workshop[3].

In 2008, Mekenian produced and directed Spare Some Change: NYC Artists for Barack Obama"[4].

In 2013, Mekenian was a musician Off-Broadway in The Netflix Plays at Ars Nova, a production starring Eddie Kaye Thomas and Sarah Steele.[5]

Film

In 2020, Mekenian directed Spokespeople, his thesis at the U.S.C. School of Cinematic Arts, which went on to play 35 film festivals, including the Cannes Film Festival[6].

In 2022, Mekenian's screenplay, The Man in the Flying Lawn Chair, was named a quarterfinalist for the Nicholl Fellowship in Screenwriting at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences[7]
