Russell "Russ" Hafferkamp (born December 12, 1954, in Pasadena, California) is an American water polo player and coach, author, and entrepreneur. He was selected as a first-team NCAA All-America collegiate water polo player, has been a part of more than 34 USA Water Polo open and masters national championship teams, and five FINA World Masters Championships gold medal teams. He has principally competed for The Olympic Club[1] since 1982.
Coaching career
Hafferkamp has coached water polo more than 20 years including for collegiate programs UC Berkeley men and women,[2] UC San Diego men[3].
Business career
Hafferkamp founded two venture-backed technology services businesses, TradePoint Solutions and Career Athletes, and is credited as Inventor of Record for patents issued by the United States Patent and Trademark Office relating to the "Method and System for Managing Retail Promotion Events"[4] and "Managing Retail Promotion Events".[5]
Author
Hafferkamp has been an advocate for the successful transition of college athletes to post-sports careers by authoring and publishing over 60,000 copies of the CareerBall series which includes, "CareerBall: The Sport Athletes Play When They're Through Playing Sports"[6] and "CareerBall: The Student-Athlete Career Guide and Handbook"[7].
He also authored a children's books covering the COVID-19 pandemic, "Fuzzy the Virus" [8]
