Rufrius Pollio was Prefect of thePraetorian Guard from 41 – 44 A.D. during the rule of the Roman Emperor Claudius.
He took part in the invasion of Britannia in 43, and for his bravery Claudius awarded him a triumphal statue and granted him a seat in the Roman Senate|senate when he was in attendance. Possibly the same person as Rufius Pomfilius, a perfect whom Claudius had put to death.[1][2]
He appears as a ghost in Seneca's play Apocolocyntosis[3] as one of Claudius' victims.
