Rose Sgueglia (born 1987) is an author[1] based in Cardiff. She published her first book in 2020.

Sgueglia specialises in Nonfiction.

Early Life

Sgueglia was born in Naples, Italy. She and her family moved to Cardiff when she was a teenager. She started Cardiff University shortly after. She graduated[2] from Cardiff University in 2008 (BA in Journalism, Film and Media) and in 2009 (Post-Graduate Diploma in Magazine Journalism).

Career

Sgueglia started her career as a journalist at Cardiff University's magazine Quench (magazine)|Quench and newspaper Gair Rhydd as a listings editor. She wrote for different publications from 2009 to 2013 including La Repubblica|Repubblica.it, Yahoo!|Yahoo UK, The Huffington Post[3] and Condé Nast|Style. In 2013, she founded a content agency[4] and online magazine, Miss Squiggles[5]. From 2013 to 2016[6], Sgueglia run Miss Squiggles[7] full-time. Later on, she worked as a marketing manager, PR and communications manager for different businesses in Cardiff and London.

In 2018, Sgueglia signed a contract with history publisher Pen and Sword Books|Pen & Sword. She published The Real Coco Chanel in June 2020[8] and The Real Leonardo da Vinci [9]in August 2021. In 2020, Sgueglia started her PhD about Chanel at The University of South Wales.

Sgueglia is currently working on her third book with Pen and Sword Books|Pen & Sword about Georgian Life and Love.

Personal Life

Sgueglia lives in Llandaff.

Sgueglia also works as a freelance journalist covering women's rights news and events like White Ribbon Day. In 2019 and in 2020, she reported from Senedd for the Women's Institutes|Women's Institute magazine, WI Life. In 2021, she supported the Books for Vaccine initiative[10].

Sgueglia is also a member of the ALCS Society of Authors and Insole Court|The Insole Court Trust.
