Rosana Elisabeth de Montfort (born November 5, 1973, Ostrava) is a Czech painter, sculptor, and designer.
Biography
Born in Ostrava, she was involved in art from the age of four, attending private lectures given by Karel Žaluda,[1] and figurative drawing lessons by a sculptor and painter Jaroslav Domiter.[2] Her paintings evoked controversial opinions among educators and her fantasque work was not received positively during the peak of the communist regime. She exhibited not only in her studies at the art school in Ostrava, Blahoslavova Street but also in the premises of cultural centers such as the Theater of Music (today's Stará Aréna Ostrava), vestibules of industrial buildings and schools. After graduating from the Gymnázium Hladnov and the Secondary School of Applied Arts in Ostrava-Poruba, which she did not finish, in 1991 she moved abroad, where she started her business in gastronomy and retail.
In 1993 she participated in collective exhibitions in Munich cafes and restaurants. A turning point in her work came with the exhibition in Kunstpark Ost in Munich, today's cultural center for entertainment and culture Kultfabrik. In 2001 she participated in the iconic Street Art Jams in Prague.[3]
Since 2003, she has lived and worked in the United Kingdom, where she started working in commercial production. Her works are becoming part of private collections: the latest large format Leap of Faith painting was bought by a collector in Australia. Her works are exhibited in commercial premises such as shopping centers, cafés, restaurants, but also in museums and castles. In addition to 3D art, she also creates street art backdrops and graffiti. She has also been involved in the music production of British TV channels Channel U, BBC Channel 4 a Lion TV. Since 2012 he has been living alternately in the United Kingdom and the Czech Republic.[4]
In addition to his work, she also cooperates with castle curators and city councils on beneficial projects for the return of lost works of art back to historical settlements. In 2019, she created a replica of the painting of the Blessed Ceslaw Odrowas (patron of the Sedlnitzky family). This two-and-a-half-meter painting, painted with oil on canvas, was placed back on the walls of the chateau in Bílovec in cooperation with the curator Eduard Valeš and with the participation of the members of the castle guard. The image of the patron, who has the task of protecting this noble settlement from all evil, was also blessed by the Dean of Bílovec P. Ing. Mgr. Lumír Tkáč.[5]
