Ron Ragona is Connecticut native who founded the band Spring Heeled Jack (USA) and was the front man for the Lost City Angels (2000-2005) and the Murder Mile (2005-2009). [1]Spring Heeled Jack, founded by Ragona and drummer Dave Karcich in 1991, was instrumental in creating the "Connecticut Ska" movement and played hundreds of shows across the US in the 90's.[2]

Ragona was born and grew up in Shelton, Connecticut right outside of New Haven, founding Spring Heeled Jack after high school with Karcich. The name for the band came from a book Ragona found underneath his grandparents' house about "Spring Heeled Jack" from English folklore. After a brief move to Boston to play bass for Skavoovie and the Epitones, Ragona returned to Connecticut and reformed the band with Karcich and new member Mike Pellegrino (vocals and guitar) and several others, releasing demo tape Connecticut Ska in 1993, and debut album Static World View on Moon Ska Records. The band released its most popular album on Tommy Boy Records, recorded at the famous Hit Factory in New York, called Songs from Suburbia, in 1998 and subsequently toured with other major ska bands like Reel Big Fish and The Mighty Mighty Bosstones as well as playing a number of dates on the 1999 Warped Tour. [3]

Spring Heeled Jack would play its final shows in 2000 (although later iterations of the band have since come together for many shows in the 2010s and 20's). After the band broke up, Ragona joined Lost City Angels, a punk band from Boston, which was signed to Nitro Records shortly after he joined. Following Lost City Angels, Ragona formed The Murder Mile in 2006 with bandmate Nick Bacon from Lost City Angels. [4]

Today, Ragona still tours with Spring Heeled Jack, upcoming shows include Less Than Jake's tour in summer 2023.[5]
