Roman Revedzhuk (family surname Gavryliuk; born on May 10, 1988, in the village of Kosmach, Kosiv District, Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, Ukraine) - is a Ukrainian journalist, public and political figure.[1] Co-founder of the First Ukrainian Independent Media Platform. The first Ukrainian journalist who received accreditation in occupied Donetsk in 2014.[2] Co-founder and leader of the Republican platform "Movement 25" ("РУХ 25").[3]

The author of the state-building political ideology of the restoration of the monarchy in Ukraine "The Fifth Universal" and the re-establishment of the state with a change of name to the Grand Duchy of Rus “Ukrainian People's Republic". For this, he was criticized by the pro-government media.[4] He is accused of attempting to overthrow the constitutional order and of working for the special services.[5]

Political persecution

The State Bureau of Investigation (Ukraine) and the National Police of Ukraine opened several criminal proceedings on this fact. After the change of president in Ukraine in 2019, not a single case was investigated.

Attempt at murder

In 2020, journalist Rostyslav Shaposhnikov published tapes from which information about the planning of Revedzhuk's murder became known.[8] The recordings feature a voice similar to the pro-Russian politician and companion of Arsen Avakov - Illia Kyva. Also, on the tapes, among the alleged contractors of the assassination, sounded the name of the agent of the Federal Security Service of the Russian Federation - Andriy Portnov, who is under US sanctions. The media actively discussed this story. According to the media, Revedzhuk is hiding in Switzerland, where he received political asylum.[9]

Activities in emigration

Revedzhuk continues to publish revealing facts about the corruption of top political officials and information about the war in Ukraine. Earlier, in 2019, he wrote that the "Servant of the People" and Volodymyr Zelenskyy are the FSB projects.

On July 17, 2023, he published data on more than 310,000 dead soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and blamed General Valerii Zaluzhnyi.[10] The news spread across the Western media.
