Roman Perez (born November 23, 1985) is a American professional basketball player [1], streetballer and actor[2].

Early life

Perez[3] was born in the Dominican Republic, and was raised in Brooklyn. He grew up in Williamsburg where he started to play basketball and work on his acting.

Basketball career

Roman started his basketball career in 2007-08 has he played his first year of school ball at Hostos Community College [4] and 2008-09 New York City Tech[5] where he only played 2 years in the NCAA. Perez signed his first professional contract in the United States and played from 2009-12 in the EBA with 3 different teams, continuing to play in ABA and the APBL from 2012-2019. Aboard overseas Roman has played 11 seasons in the Dominican Republic[6], has played 2x at Quai 54[7] in France, and other countries. He has played in New York City Streetball scene from 2005-current in tournaments like the cage, where he is known as "da Gift". He is a current member of the Court Kingz team.[8] Off the court he is the founder of the Dudo Baez foundation[9], where opportunities are provided to the youth through camps, mentoring and tournaments. His story has reached theNew York Post[10], New York Daily News[11], News 12[12] and other news features.[13] [14]

Acting career

His acting career started in 2012. Appearing in National Commercials for Powerade[15], Autism Speaks[16], Centrum[17] and Pfizer[18]. Was featured on H&M[19] t-shirt which was in all stores worldwide. The movies he’s appeared on are Black Jack the Jackie Ryan Story[20] and Boogie (2021 film)[21]. Perez will also play the role of Streetball Legend Joe Hammond (basketball) in upcoming film.[22]
