Rohit Upadhyay (born 20 July 1995) is an Indian journalist and documentary film producer.[1][2]An Indian Institute of Mass Communication alumunus, he has worked with the biggest media houses of India namely AAJ TAK, NAVBHARAT TIMES, NEWS18 and has been independent contributor to various other media platforms.[3][4][5]He quit his full time journalism gig with the media house in 2019 and went independent with his own brand called ON THE GROUND WITH ROHIT UPADHYAY where he goes out directly on the ground across India & reports what is generally missed by the mainstream media.[6][7]His few notable reportings from the ground are the one which he did from Kashmir[8] after abrogation of article 370 in 2019 and the one from Assam in 2020 where he put all the chaos and confusion of NRC & CAA [9] in perspective that hit the country.[10]Rohit Upadhyay has forayed into producing documentaries with Footloose: a story of belonging [11], his first project as documentary film producer.[12]
