Roger Rondon is a Venezuelan politician who held federal office 2002–2004.[1][2] Following the Llaguno Overpass events Rondon claimed that foreign gunmen were first arrested and then protected from prosecution.[3][1] Other sources pointed to the gunmen being Venezuelan Chavez supporters.[4] He has supported Hugo Chavez.[3] He sometimes opposed and sometimes supported Nicolas Maduro.[2] Rondon supported the arrest of Carlos Ortega. In 2004, he claimed that Venezuela's El Palito refinery was faking production. Rondon was removed from Venezuela's ruling coalition in June 2004 after accusing Rafael Ramírez of corruption. He subsequently got into a physical altercation with Maduro.[5][2]
