Robert "Bobby" A. Frist, Jr. (born c.1967) is an American businessman, investor, and philanthropist from Nashville, Tennessee. He co-founded HealthStream, Inc. and has been its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board since 1990.[1]
Early Life and Education
Robert A. Frist, Jr. was born on April 7, 1967 to the Frist family in Nashville, TN, known for its development of the American healthcare industry. His father, Robert A. Frist Sr., served as a well-known heart surgeon and businessman in Nashville. His grandfather, Thomas F. Frist Sr., co-founded HCA Healthcare, a world's top for-profit hospital chain. His uncle, Thomas F. Frist Jr., helped expand HCA into a global healthcare powerhouse, making the Frist family the wealthiest in Tennessee. His uncle, Bill Frist, served as a U.S. senator from 1995-2007, and U.S. Senate Majority Leader from 2003 to 2007.[2]
Frist attended and graduated from Trinity University, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business.[3]
Career
Frist co-founded HealthStream in 1990, a technology company that works to within the healthcare field by working with individuals who deliver care. He has served as chief executive officer and chairman of the board of directors since 1990. HealthStream, under his leadership, has grown to become a top technology-enabled platform serving thousands of healthcare organizations nationwide.
Outs[7]ide of HealthStream, Fristco-founded the Nashville Entrepreneur Center, a nonprofit organization focused on fostering startups and business innovation within the region. He now serves a Board Chair.
Philanthropy
Frist serves on the Board of Directors of Passport Health Communications, an online health insurance verification provider, and HealthLeaders, a healthcare publisher.
He has served on many boards throughout his career including Director at Adventure Science Center; former Vice Chair of the Nashville Health Care Council (2018–2019) and Chairmanship for 2020–2021.[8] [9]
Personal Life
Frist is married with four children. They reside in Nashville, TN.
