Robby Herbst (born 1973) is an interdisciplinary artist and writer involved with art and social change. His work engages with contemporary and historic experiments in socio-political aesthetics and political movements, taking the form of publishing, drawing, group-work, and object making. With his twin brother Marc he cofounded the Journal of Aesthetics and Protest.[1] He is also the instigator of the Llano Del Rio Collective.[2]

He has been awarded grants from the Graue Foundation,[3] The Andy Warhol Foundation for art writing, and the Mike Kelly Foundation.[4] He has been an artist in residence at the Headlands Center For the Arts, the Provisions Library,[5] and the Pelleh Residency.

He is a columnist for KCET TV's program Artbound where he covers Los Angeles' grassroots art movements and culture.[6]

He’s lectured internationally on radical aesthetics, action, and creative practices,[7] and presented at the Creative Time Summit in 2016.[8] He is an adjunct professor at Harvey Mudd College and CalState LA.
