Robbie Tinkler (born 23 July 1996) is an English professional footballer who plays as a defender for National League side Gateshead.

Club career

Tinkler signed for the Middlesbrough academy when he was 13 and played twice in the Football League Trophy in the 2016/17 season.

On 2 February 2017, Tinkler joined North Ferriby United on loan until the end of the season, scoring 4 goals in 15 games.[1]

On 3 July 2017, Tinkler was loaned out again, this time to Gateshead until January 2018, making 17 appearances for the club.[2]

Following his release from Middlesbrough, Tinkler rejoined Gateshead on a one-year contract ahead of the 2019/18 season.[3]

Following Gateshead’s demotion to National League North, Tinkler left the club and moved to Aldershot Town in June 2019 where he became vice captain and made 30 league appearances.[4][5]

On 7 August 2020, Tinkler signed for York City linking up once again with former Gateshead manager Steve Watson.[6]

In June 2021, Tinkler joined Gateshead for a third spell and made 45 appearances in the 2021/22 season in which the Tynesiders won the National League North title.[7]

International career

On 10 October 2018, Tinkler made his debut for England C where he completed 90 minutes in a 1-0 victory over Estonia u23.[8]
