Rob Pearsall is an American composer working in video games and film. Born in Texas but raised in Southern California, he now lives with his wife outside Seattle, Washington. He has worked in the music industry for almost fifty years, but his game audio career started in 2002 when he established Rip Street Audio.[1] to provide music, sound and voice to video games. Since that time he has contributed to over fifty games including Halo 4, République, Destiny[2], Battletech, Falcon Age, and The Lamplighters League[3]
Early Life
Pearsall began his career by taking drum lessons at age ten. By age twelve, his teacher had recommended him to be the pit drummer in a community theater production of Guys and Dolls. At sixteen, he taught himself to play guitar which also kickstarted his interest in songwriting. Through high school jazz band and musicals, church choirs, and rock bands, he moved on to college where he graduated from California State University Dominguez Hills with a Bachelors degree in music with emphasis on 'Electronic Music and Recording'.
During college he found time to be the sound mixer for the band, Children of the Light[4] on a national tour, produced a solo Christian music album, Abiding in Him,[5] and started the band, Tradewind, also producing their album, Until the Storm is Past.[6]
Early Career
For the next ten years, Rob worked as a church music leader in three different churches in California.
Then in 1992, he revived his career as a recording artist, touring nationally and writing/recording two CD's of original music and one acoustic cover album of hymns.
Game & Film Career
2002-present For games, Rob has filled the roles of audio tester, mixer, VO editor, sound designer, audio director, and composer. For film, he composed the score for the short film, "The Gift" (2015).[7]
