Rishi (born 21 September 1992), also known as Rishikanth Rajendran , is an Indian actor who primarily appears in Tamil and Malayalam films. After making brief appearances in the films Irumbu Thirai (2018) [1] and Hero (2019) [1] by P. S. Mithran, he appeared in various commercially successful films and gradually saw an increase in the depth and duration of his characters. Rishi's subsequent performance as Murali in Vishal Venkat's Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal (2022) [1] garnered appreciation for his subtle yet stirring performance.
Early life
Rishikanth Rajendran was born in a Tamil family on 21 September 1992 in Bahrain and he was brought up in Thanjavur [2]. Rishi was born to S. Rajendran and R. Devasena. He subsequently completed his schooling at Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Thanjavur, and then attended college at SRM Institute of Science and Technology in Kattankulathur, Chennai.
Career
Rishikanth made his acting debut in the 2015 Tamil film Bench Talkies. Following his debut, he appeared in various commercially successful films and gradually saw an increase in the depth and duration of his characters .
2015–Present: Noted Appearances and Critical Acclaim
He has had brief appearances in films such as Irumbu Thirai, Hero, K13, Rocky, Neymar, Magamuni, and Locked.
His performance in Sila Nerangalil Sila Manidhargal (SNSM) was a significant step, with director Vishal Venkat specifically choosing him for a role that, while not career-defining, had a notable impact. His role in the film Rasavathi received critical acclaim. Rishikanth gained further recognition for portraying a crucial role in Kamal Haasan's highly anticipated Indian 2. He has also been involved in short films and web series, including Nathan in the Disney+ Hotstar’s Mathagam web series gave him a spotlight in the entertainment industry.
