The campus of Rider Institution may be found in Lawrence Township, New Jersey. Rider is a private university. The Norm Brodsky College of Business, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, the College of Education and Human Services, and the Westminster College of the Arts make up its constituent parts (consisting of the School of Fine and Performing Arts and Westminster Choir College).

Henry Beadman Bryant and Henry D. Stratton, who were the founders and managers of the Bryant and Stratton network of private business schools, established the institution on October 1, 1865, under the name Trenton Business College. At Trenton, New Jersey, the school was housed in Temperance Hall, which was situated at the intersection of South Broad Street and Front Street. Andrew J. Rider was selected to serve as the organization's first president. In the vicinity of Hammonton, New Jersey, President Rider owned cranberry bogs that included 500 acres. This is the reason why the school's colours are cranberry red and white, according to the tradition.

As a result of the school's expansion, it often relocated to more spacious accommodations. In 1896 women were accepted. The institution was given its current name, Rider Business College, in the year 1896. The next year saw President Rider resign down from his position.

In 1920, the college became formally recognised as Rider College after moving to its current location on East State Street in Trenton. In 1922, the State Board of Education in New Jersey authorised Rider College to bestow the degrees of Bachelor of Accounts and Bachelor of Commercial Science onto its students. The first year that Rider Business College offered liberal studies that might lead to a Bachelor of Arts degree was 1957.

The College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is comprised of 13 departments, each of which gives students the opportunity to choose from among more than 70 different undergraduate majors and minors. In addition, the university grants master's degrees.

The Norm Brodsky College of Business Administration provides educational opportunities for students interested in pursuing degrees at the bachelor's as well as the master's level. The two master's degrees that are available.

The Department of Graduate Education and Human Services provides a total of 25 different certification programmes in addition to five different master of arts degrees. In addition to that, there are two other educational specialist degrees that may be earned.

The Master of Arts in Business Communication is the only degree that may be earned via the Department of Communication and Journalism.
