Ricardo Miles (born 9, September 1991), known professionally as Rimzee, is a British rapper and songwriter. He is from Clapton, East London [1]. Rimzee gained popularity in 2011 and released his debut mixtape The Upper Clapton Dream in 2012 - which is widely regarded as a UK cult classic. The mixtape was the first of its kind to achieve 10,000 downloads on music platform Mixtape Madness, with project registering downloads worldwide - in the United States, Russia, Sweden and even Japan [2].

In 2020, Rimzee released the long-awaited sequel, Upper Clapton Dream 2, which peaked at 96 in the Official U.K. Charts.

Early Life

Miles was born and raised in Hackney, East London. Both of Miles' parents are of West-Indian descent. He has been rapping since the age of 10 and initially grew up listening to the likes of Crazy Titch and The Movement, an esteemed grime collective. He went to Tyssen Community Primary School and studied at Gladesmore Community School.

Career

Since the release of his first video '2010 Freestyle / New York Minute Remix', Rimzee's popularity trended on an upwards trajectory, as The Upper Clapton Dream singles such as 'Here I Am', 'I'm On', 'Keep Stackin', 'Everyday' and his cover of Adele's 'Hometown' had his name bubbling within the UK rap scene throughout 2011 and 2012.

Later on, in July 2013, Rimzee was officially sentenced to 13 years in jail for shooting at an unmarked police car - curtailing his burgeoning music career [1]. He was released on licence after serving six-and-a-half years.

Following Rimzee's much-anticipated return home from jail, in 2019, he persisted with his rap career, releasing his second mixtape, Upper Clapton Dream 2 in 27th November 2020. The charting mixtape included features from Potter Payper, M24, Snap Capone and Haile (from WSTRN); with 'Xabsi', 'Lifestyle Cold', 'Jada & Styles' and 'Anything' being some of the standout tracks [3].

Rimzee's renowned Upper Clapton Dream mixtape series name was inspired by Black the Ripper’s mixtape, The Edmonton Dream.

In 2021, Rimzee released singles 'PTSD', 'Split Decisions' and street banger 'Expensive Pain', leading BBC Radio 1Xtra to announce Rimzee as one of their Hot For 2022 artists on 14th December. [4]

Ventures

Lauded for his never-say-die mindset and his entrepreneurial nouse, Rimzee has delved into property investment, and is exploring the technology and the film industry.

In 2021, Rimzee announced the opening of his fast food establishment, Burgers & Bagels, located in Fulham, South West London - a stone's throw away from Chelsea Football Club's Stamford Bridge.
