A review is an analytical commentary on literary, political, or cultural events or on a product, service, or corporation. In addition to providing a critical analysis, the reviewer may also give the work a numerical rating.

Reviews can be written about anything from a movie to a video game to a musical composition to a book to a piece of hardware like a car or a home appliance or a computer to software like business software or sales software to an event or performance like a live music concert, play, musical theatre show, dance performance, or art exhibition. For example, The New York Review of Books is an anthology of articles on books, culture, and current events. William F. Buckley Jr.'s National Review is a conservative publication, whereas Monthly Review has been publishing for decades as a socialist journal.
