Rentals United is a vacation rental software for property managers.[1] The tool’s main feature is a channel manager that allows property managers to list their properties on online travel agencies such as Airbnb, Booking.com, Vrbo, and more, and manage the listings through Rentals United’s platform.[2]

Property managers use the tool to distribute short-term rental listings across multiple channels and therefore increase their chances of getting bookings. Rentals United has API connections with more than 60 channels and official integrations with other vacation rental software providers that can be used with the channel manager, such as Property Management Systems (PMS) and dynamic pricing tools.

Users get access to other features like a guest communication tool, website builder, and data platform.

History

Rentals United was founded in 2015 by Emil Majkowski, James Burrows, Vanessa de Souza Lage, who were all leading property management companies. The founders decided to create a tool for automatic inventory distribution that would help mid-size short-term rental management companies stay competitive in a market being disrupted by Airbnb.[3]

They initially grew the company through cold-calling property managers around the world. Later, they received funding from an angel investor and secured another funding round of $4.25 million in 2019.[4]

Product Overview

Rentals United has various features designed for professional property managers.

  • The channel manager lets property managers list properties on multiple channels through API connections. Anytime a booking is made on one channel, calendars will update across all channels, which Rentals United claim prevents double bookings.
  • Users can communicate with guests across different channels using Rentals United’s Smart Guest Communication tool.
  • Quality Checker is an AI-powered tool that assesses the quality of property listings according to each booking site’s criteria. Rentals United claims this feature helps property managers increase rankings and conversions from their listings.
  • Users can publish a website through the tool using a simple builder. Bookings from the website also sync with bookings from all other channels.
  • Property managers can review property data and market insights through a data platform called Elevate.

In 2022, Rentals United launched Powerhost, a product designed for property managers with under 20 properties.

Achievements

According to Rentals United, their clients see up to 21% higher revenue and an additional 85 Euros in ADR compared to other property managers. They claim this is because of the wide selection of channels, industry expertise, and exclusive access to new channels and features.[citation needed]

Rentals United has been named Preferred Partner of Airbnb, Booking.com, and Vrbo.[citation needed]

The company won the Shortyz award for Best Channel Manager 2 years in a row, in 2021 and 2022.[5]
