Renaissance One is an independent arts company that curates and produces literature and spoken word events. Renaissance One was founded in 2000 as a company to represent and work with writers through showcases and tours.[1] Renaissance One organises live events and festivals surrounding contemporary British and international literature. [2]

‘Bittersweet’, 1999 - 2000

A tour of group of Black and Asian women writers who were published in The Women’s Press anthology ‘Bittersweet: Contemporary Black Women’s Poetry’ (1998, editor: Karen McCarthy).[3] The tour ran from 1999 to 2000 and presented writers including Patience Agbabi, Bernardine Evaristo, Khefri Riley (KA’frique), Raman Mundair, Karen McCarthy, Vanessa Richards and Dorothea Smartt. [4]

‘Facing Leicester Square’, 2002

Live recording and broadcast of six contemporary writers for a BBC Radio 3 drama series.[5]

‘A Great Day’, 2004

A photoshoot of fifty writers of African, Asian and Caribbean origin on the steps of the British Library.[6]

‘London Is The Place For Me’, 2012 - 2018

A two-week literature festival at the Tricycle Theatre to commemorate 50 years of Independence for Trinidad and Tobago. The festival, commissioned by the Trinidad and Tobago High Commission, and co-curated by Dominique Le Gendre and Melanie Abrahams, featured fifty artists of Trinidadian and Tobagonian origin.[7][8][9]
