Early life and education

Dargham was born in a small village in the Chouf district of Lebanon where he grew up as a child before moving to the Lebanese capital, Beirut.

He went to Beirut Baptist School.

During his high school years, Dargham was one of the winners in a competition organized by INJAZ Al-Arab. He took part in a three month program aiming to promote entrepreneurship among youth and encourage them to be active in innovation, technology, and creativity. During the three months long training sessions, he developed his creative idea that won the competition in Lebanon and qualified for the regional level.[2]

Dargham graduated from The American University of Beirut with an undergraduate degree in Economics. There, he founded "Start", a series of small workshops that were run in art galleries in Beirut.

The sole purpose of these initiatives was to inspire people to realize their full potential, change their lives and take command of their future.[3]

Career

After completing his BA in Economics in 2011, Dargham moved to Dubai where he founded Spiderfrogs, a next-generation technology provider that helps local and global brands to integrate their business with new technologies. He also founded Step which was at the time an annual event that started with 100 attendees in its first conference and grew to be the leading tech and Startup festival for emerging markets with 8000+ attendees nowadays.[4]

In 2015, Dargham launched StepFeed and Yallafeed which are two social media platforms that provide premium content for millennials, created by millennials. Ray is also the host of the Maté conversations which is a podcast featuring MENA’s most successful Startup founders with a deep dive into their daily tech, product, growth, and fundraising operations.[5][6]

Ray was featured on the cover of the Forbes 30 under 30 issue in 2018, and he is also a successful public speaker due to his profound knowledge of the business domain and entrepreneurship skills. He was also featured on Ferd's list in 2018.[7]
