Ratshar Kalan is a small village of 532.9 hectares in Ballia Tehsil in Ballia district in the State of Uttar Pradesh, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Ratshar Kalan depends on gadwar, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, One Well supply, One tank, One tubewell and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sourcesOne canal. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tap. Ratshar Kalan's pin code is 277123[4], and village code is 09172900. The area of Ratshar Kalan is segregated as 393.762 hectares irrigated area, 6.135 hectares unirrigated area. the 47.786 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves) and remaining 85.24 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of gadwar and Ballia to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
