Rateu is a small village of 1934 hectares in Baytoo Tehsil in Barmer district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Rateu depends on BARMER, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include One tap, Two Wells supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and Two handpumps. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - Two rivers, Two canals and Two springs. Rateu is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Tubewell. Rateu's pin code is 344035[4], and village code is 02105000. The area of Rateu is segregated as 52.87 hectares irrigated area, 1253.93 hectares unirrigated, the 356.58 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 220.16 hectare area not available for cultivation.

Rateu has One post office (Rateu B.O). The village is connected with a single bus service. Rateu has Two banks, One credit society and One agricultural credit society for the regulation of economic activity. The village is also equipped with Two recreational centers.

Rateu is a census village in the district of Barmer, Rajasthan. The village has a total population of 1476 and has total administration over 275 houses which are connected to supplies basic amenities like water and sewerage.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Barmer to sell agricultural produce and make their living.
