Ratai Kalan is a small village of 1055 hectares in Shahbad Tehsil in Baran district in the State of Rajasthan, India.[2] The village is administrated by a sarpanch who is elected representative of the village by the local elections. Ratai Kalan depends on Baran, the nearest town for all major economic activities.[3] The village has government-provided water facilities that include Two taps, One Well supply, Two tanks, One tubewell, and One handpump. The villagers also acquire water from some of the natural water sources - One river, Two canals and Two springs. Ratai Kalan is also surrounded by Two lakes. The population of the village depends on the source of drinking water during summer on Well. Ratai Kalan's pin code is 325217[4], and village code is 03932700. The area of Ratai Kalan is segregated as 91.05 hectares irrigated area, 233.08 hectares unirrigated, the 337.04 hectare area under culturable waste (including gauchar and groves), and remaining 394.06 hectare area not available for cultivation.

They depend on the agricultural markets (Mandi) of the nearby towns of Baran to sell ghee and make their living.
