Raoul Shah (born November 1967) is a British entrepreneur and creative communications executive. He is the founder and chief executive of Exposure, part of the Casbah Group, and has been influential in defining brand-culture engagement across global markets.

Early life and education

Shah was born in London to Kenyan-Indian parents and grew up in Golders Green and Camden Town.[1] He was educated at Highgate School and later studied Textile Economics and Management at the University of Manchester, graduating with a BSc (Hons) in 1985.[2]

Career

After working at fashion brand Agnes B in Paris, Shah joined Pepe Jeans in 1989.[2] In 1993, he founded the creative communications agency Exposure in London, which grew into an international network with offices in New York, Tokyo and Paris, representing brands including Levi’s, Nike, Dr. Martens, Barbour, Uniqlo, and Converse.[2]

In 2024, Shah and co-founder Tim Bourne launched the creative technology company Everything Ahead under the Casbah Group, helping brands harness emerging technologies such as AI.[3]

Other roles and affiliations

Shah is a member of the Board of Governors of the University of Manchester.[2] He was appointed Chairman of the global creative charity Creative Conscience in 2020.[4] In 2017, he was listed among the UK’s Top 50 Creative Leaders by Creative Review.[2]

Personal life

Shah is a collector of cultural ephemera and published a book in 2019 based on his collection of hotel “Do Not Disturb” signs.[2] He divides his time between London and Annecy, France.[2]
